Shimmery Treats

I had such a fun time creating these shimmery treats, I just have to share, even if it may seem a little early for Valentine's Day. 

Glimmer Mists meet mailing labels, and what a pair they make!  I sprayed plain old white mailing labels with Glimmer Mist (in this case, Pink Taffy).  Dried it with my heat tool, stamped some great Valentine's stamps on top and wrapped the labels around a hershey nugget. 

Consider filling a jar with these fun treats and giving it as a gift, or set it out on your desk.  Just looking at it will make you happy!  The tops of these smooth mason jars are so easy to decorate.  I used the Mega circle along with the Super Jumbo scalloped circle.

Correspondence Cards for gifts

So I'm thinking that this might be the year that I do, the holiday season when I finally take my own advice and give cards as gifts!  Handmade cards make the greatest, thoughtful gift.  Perfect for teachers, your hairstylist, neighbor, friends and family!  This year I am giving the gift of correspondece cards.  "Correspondence card" is my term for a single sided card that has the perfect blank area on the front for jotting a quick note. 

Correspondence cards are just so much fun to make, and to receive!  I have given them to friends in the past, and they said they were the perfect note card to have on hand to jot a quick note.  Here is my first set, made with patterned paper from the Magnolia collection.  The stamps are the lacy oval from Amuse stamped in French Blue Fluid Chalk ink, "Just a note" from Amuse, stamped in Pearlescent Chocolate and "Thank you" from Savvy also stamped in Pearlescent Chocolate.

I like to make these in sets of 12, finished size 4 x 6 inches.  This will require 2 sheets of patterned paper, 2 sheets of a coordinating solid (for this set I used the back of another patterned paper from the Magnolia collection) and 2 sheets of smooth white (or cream, if it matches better with your paper selection).  They have a great presentation when packaged in one of clear boxes that I sell at the store.  They should be back in stock next week.

Cards for sad times...

I wish all cards could be happy ones, but unfortunately the sad times come, and that's when cards are the most important.  My heart is heavy for my friend Stefania, her grandfather passed on this week.  Here is the card I made for her, the stamps are from Sympathy Sentiments clear set by Impression Obssession and the patterned paper is from the Karen Neurberger collection for Paper Salon.

I also made some thank you cards to bring to her family.  It will be nice for them to have them on hand if they need to send a note to thank family and friends for their support. The paper is from Webster's Pages and the stamps are from Wordsworth.

Last minute louie

Typical of me, I have been talking about, and making plans for, our trip to Aruba for months now.  We are attending a wedding for friends of ours, they are getting married this Satruday.  Only this morning does it occur to me that we will need a wedding card/gift for the wedding! Yikes, as always the case the day before vacation, I have a million things to do, and barely a minute to whip up a card for friends who are getting married on an island. (black and white are my usual colors of choice for wedding cards, but did not feel stylish for an island wedding.)   

The inside is a money holder, well actually a check holder in this case.  I love making cards that purposefully hold the monetary gift so that it's not falling in her lap when the recipient opens it.

a fond farewell to all hallow's eve...

a/k/a Halloween.  I stamped my first Halloween card in August, and STILL did not manage to get Halloween cards in the mail this year.  Well, there are about 10 out there in circulation, but the sands in the hourglass fell through, and to everyone else, here's a virtual handmade card with "Happy Halloween" wishes to you!

o, and how about this happy Halloween guy?  Recognize this Lindt chocolate truffle dressed up and festive?  It was an impulse buy at the grocery store the other day, looking at them made me happy, eating them, even happier.

So now that Halloween's off the list of things to do, there's Thanksgiving and the holidays to stamp for.  I just finished production of this little set of tags which evolved from my seat cards the other day.  I am loving the Autumn clear set from Paper Salon, the three pumpkins and "give thanks" are perfect for this time of year. I like to keep a little stash of these square folded tags (2 3/4 x 2 3/4) to tie around a fun treat, homemade bread, bottle of wine, etc.  I am still in love with this Harlequin Vine paper from Paper Salon because the light maize color on the back is perfect inside of the tag or as the scalloped square that I stamped on.

Take a seat...

My friend Phoebe hosted her annual Pre-Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday night.  She likes to call it the "Thanksgiving Warm Up".  Just a few hours before, I called her to ask her if she wanted me to make place cards.  "Sure! if you have the time!"  Well, not actually, but what's an extra 15 minute to whip these up... Place cards add a nice touch to your festive dinner table, and your guests will appreciate knowing where to take a seat.  I love this Harlequin Vines Paper from Paper Salon because the back is light, and it is what I stamped on.  I cut the paper 5 x 3 so the folded size is 2 1/2 x 3.  But these could be any size you want.

And a few more examples that I have created.  If you are attending a Thanksgiving dinner this year, make a set and bring to the hostess, I am sure she will appreciate them! 

 

One thing leads to another...

I am taking a little trip this weekend to visit my friend Donna who lives in Colorado.  In an effort to not be a Last Minute Louie, I was packing up a few things this moring, and reached for my book, "The Friday Night Knitting Club", took a quick check to see where my place was, as marked by my bookmark....EGADS, it's still my "fun in the sun" bookmark inside!  I have a reputation to uphold, and very well cannot be spied on the plane with a summer bookmark, so into work I go, and create this quickie...  

Of course, there were a few scraps of this beautiful pattern paper left, so I think, o boy, this would make cute note cards, hence how one thing leads to another...

These cards will make a great little hostess gift for my friend Donna.  She belongs to a book club, so I am sure she will enjoy using them to correspond with book club friends.  They would be great for any avid reader in your life.   

A few details that did not photograph well, I highlighted the steam and little design detail on the mug with the Clear Stardust pen to add just a little sparkle. Then I colored over the mug with the Clear Glaze pen to give it a little shine and make it pop from the rest of the image.  Super quick and easy! O, and if you happen to be watching Sunday night football this week, watch for me rooting for the Broncos with the rest of the Denver fans.  I'll be the one with the Broncos cap on ;)

Stefania's Expecting Joy!

My friend Stefania stopped by to the store today to have a little chat and purchase some new supplies.  She's "expecting joy" next March, so I was inspired to make her a set of note cards.  Everyone needs some note cards on hand, especially "mom's to be" since people (yours truly included) love to buy stuff for babies.  They are yellow for now, until the next ultrasound...

The card is by Memory Box.  The background was stamped with Chocoate Ancient Page and the paisley pattern from the Pattern Play Tailored Tin by Paper Salon.  Scalloped oval background from AMuse stamped in Lemonade by Ranger.  Prego Mom and "Expecting Joy" by AMuse stamped in Pearlescent Chocolate by Brilliance.  And to complete the card, I dotted the background with the Quickie Glue Pen and sprinkled with glitter (unfortunately it does not show up well on the pic).

Thank you cards for gifts...

It's my niece Kaitlin's birthday today!  She's 11, wow!  Her birthday party is tomorrow, so I have made her these cute thank you notes.  I love them because they are girly, yet not too young, nor too old.  Perfect for an 11 year old! 

I've been doing this a lot lately, making thank you cards as birthday gifts.  We have had quite a few kid birthdays this summer, so if you pop in the store, I can show you lots of other samples I made for kids thank you notes.  Even if they don't send them out for the bdays gifts, it's still good for mom & dad to have on hand for future notes.  In fact, for some of them I left the thank you off so they could just be note cards.
